My Story about Freeing Your Soul Now as a Practitioner of Hypnotherapy
A client gave me the book The Untethered Soul, the Journey Beyond Yourself by Michael A. Singer. At that point in my life, I didn’t necessarily feel that reading books was the best way to learn about life and spirit. I was more apt to meditate or take a nature walk. However, this client was so adamant that she wanted to discuss this book in its entirety during her next session that I took a deep breath and dove into the book’s journey to freedom. I looked up from the book, what seemed to me just a moment later, and an hour had floated away. Already, I was experiencing how amazing life would be if I could just feel it, instead of talk about it to myself, as I had done all of my waking hours—except when I was meditating.
I began to read without discussing the book with my inner self. I tried not to “float away” and continue reading while I was thinking about something else, which often happened when I read. After the first few chapters, I took a walk. I watched my own mind discuss everything I saw. I couldn’t just “see” a flower and feel its beauty. I had to say to myself: “What a beautiful flower.” It was as if I had a friend in my head with whom I had to share everything I heard, felt and saw.
However, I noticed very quickly that the voice in my head also was the same phantom voice that spoke to me about off of my deepest fears of money, challenges from my past, and often shared untrue stories about the future. Why was this voice in my head someone or something I trusted so much that my entire life was up for discussion constantly in my waking hours?
The concept of the book “The Untethered Soul” is so similar to hypnosis that I had to write about it in my Hypnosis on Las Olas blog. If you are observing your actions or hearing a voice in your head most of the day discussing your life, who is the one listening to that voice or watching the fantasy unfold?
The observer and the listener is the real you—the spiritual you. Discovering this aspect of life and true silence in meditation, living it every moment of your life, frees you to enjoy your life in a new paradigm of bliss, I assure you.

So, if you are not experiencing peace, it’s up to you to share why you are anxious with yourself by carrying on a self dialogue. Yes, that’s right. Question yourself. Work it out together with all the parts of your mind (the good, bad, and the ugly). These are the times when we will be closest to our loved ones and also have a great deal of alone time. Use it to your spiritual and physical advantage.
