There is a space between your exhale and your inhale that is pure nothingness. Just for a test, see if you can experience this quiet space. The clarity may only last a second or two. If you can feel any feeling or experience something for a second or two, you have the capacity to feel this same feeling an hour, a day, and even for the rest of your life. Clearing your thoughts and brain of the endless stories of the path is the way to rewrite your healthy new story. It is a practice that changes everything. I guarantee it.
My Experience with Clear Your Mind of Anxious Stories
Every morning, right before sun up, my dreams seem to draw to a conclusion. As a result, I wake up and generally move to my recliner and meditate. Meditation and quietness in the brain is a learned physical behavior. You have to take control over the brain, just as you would take control over your need to eat ice cream or smoke cigarettes. Negative thinking is habitual and can keep you locked in an endless loop of negativity for the rest of your life.
This quiet space in the morning is the perfect time to gain control over the coming day and battles you are likely to face. My theory is this: You can believe in something, but unless you are plugged into that power source, you will not function correctly or with efficiency. This can be similar to a lamp that must be plugged in and turned on to provide light. This takes practice.
So, how do you live a day out of the past and the endless loop of negativity.
At the beginning, instead of trying to clear your mind, try replacing negative thought with active thought, like affirmations or prayer. I use “the Lord’s Prayer.”
Then, I begin to do breathing exercises that force my brain to control my body. I do this for 2-3 minutes.
From that point, the process makes a switch in paradigm. You must then release the physical and mental control of the breath and simply watch it; focusing solely on the space between the exhale and inhale.
This metaphorically means that when you exhale you let go of the past. When you inhale you take in an image of what your want to be present in your brain. I create an image of my quiet place or sitting on the beach, alone, watching the waves come in and recede.
Again, you may only succeed for a moment. Then you go back to listening for that space between your exhale and inhale. Eventually, you feel as if your body is breathing through your skin. Stillness takes over your body first, then your brain. Eventually, you begin to dream. As long as what you dream is like a silent movie, you are still meditating. It’s the storyteller in your brain that you want to place on mute!
The purpose of this blog is to realize that the stories in the brain are impulses from Spirit to help us heal, if we are willing to take the time to understand our own pain. Most of us want to avoid it. But, if you are tired of reliving your stories over and over again, try learning to become the observer of your mind. Restore and Renew Your Mind. Work it out together with all the parts of your mind (the good, bad, and the ugly). These are the times when we will be closest to our loved ones and also have a great deal of alone time. Use it to your spiritual and physical advantage.
